RECIPE: NIOMI'S NON ALCOHOLIC MULLED 'WINE' | BLOGMAS DAY 19

Hi there!

Today I wanted to really submerge us all in the Christmas spirit and give you this recipe for non alcoholic mulled 'wine'. If you haven't got any kids or pregnant women around and you don't have to drive home tonight, you can easily make this alcoholic by replacing the grape juice for red wine.

From what I've heard, this tasted exactly - or very much - like real mulled wine, and I think it's absolutely amazing. Your house will smell of Christmas instantly and the 'wine' itself is not too sweet, not too bitter, put a perfect combination of flavours.

What you will need for 3 litres of mulled wine:
- 500 ml of water
- 5 whole cloves
- 2 star anise
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 litre of red grape juice - replace by red wine
- 1 litre of orange juice
- 1 vanilla pod cut lengthways
- 2 large oranges
- 1 lemon
- 250 grams of blueberries - or cranberries

Step 1: In a large saucepan over a medium heat, add the water.

Step 2: When simmering, turn to a low heat and add the cloves, anise, cinnamon sticks, ginger and nutmeg. Stir for several minutes.

Step 3: After a few minutes, pour in the grape juice - or wine - and the orange juice.

Step 4: Cut on orange and the lemon into thin slices sideways and peel the skin of the other orange into strips. Cut the peeled orange into eigths.

Step 5: Add the fruit - lemon, oranges, blueberries / cranberries - and leave on medium heat to simmer for 15 minutes.

Enjoy!

You can keep this on a low heat for the entire night, to keep it warm, but you can also put it in the fridge overnight and heat up again the next day.

I hope you liked this post, tell me what you guys think, and I will - hopefully - see you again tomorrow!

Love,
Rosaly
